Normally rivals, the Norfolk Southern and CSX join forces in Decatur to cross the mighty Tennessee River. Although the bridge is owned by NS, it actually sees more CSX traffic per day than it does Thoroughbred traffic. Decatur is on the Memphis to Chattanooga NS route and the Nashville to Birmingham CSX route. Both CSX and NS have medium sized yards here for interchange traffic and local industry. Local industries served by rail in Decatur vary from chemical plants to pet food manufacturing, almost all of which are located along the river.
Frequencies monitored by the live feed:
CSX (Left Channel):
161.370 MHz AAR 84: CSX Road
160.410 MHz AAR 20: CSX Dispatcher
Norfolk Southern (Right Channel):
160.950 MHz AAR 56: NS Road (Old Channel 1)

This feed provides a roughly 30-mile radius coverage of CSX and Norfolk Southern Railroading communications. For CSX, the feed covers a train's communications as far south as Loachapoka and as far north as Cusseta. There is one defect detector located close to the house at the 114.4-mile post that the feed will pick up for every passing train covering train speed, length, axle count. It will pick up two to three dispatcher towers which expend the coverage of the feed greatly. For Norfolk Southern, the feed will pick up as far west as Gold Hill (Ridge) and east as far as Royal City. I occasionally pick up the defect detector at Stonewall and rarely at Royal City. The feed also picks up all traffic in Opelika which covers the interlock where both railroads meet each other. Thanks for listening in and I hope you enjoy it!

Though there never have been problems, just remember to observe the generally accepted etiquettes for internet forums while posting in this forum. So, no spamming, no flaming, no cursing, no undue quoting, etc. You get the drift. Queries
When posting a query in the forum, if possible, please add as much information as possible that can assist in solving your problem. Adding images
When posting a query and adding an image, please note the following:
* It should be avoided to include images that are too broad. Not every user will have a widescreen monitor and broad images can result in having to scroll from left to right to read the texts. The recommended maximum width is 600 pixels.
* If you use [ img ] tags to include images in your post, remember that the link will be broken as soon as:
- the image is deleted from the remote server;
- the image on the remote server is renamed;
- the remote server is down.
- The webmaster cannot always repair broken links. The original poster will have to do that him/herself and needs to keep in track of images (s)he placed in the forum him/herself.
* Please, place images in the message itself rather than just providing links to (internet pages with) the images. For practical reasons, it is better to have the actual images in the thread discussing a matter rather than having them in separate windows.
* Please try to keep the number of queries per thread restricted to one or a number of related queries at most. It confuses the reader if two or more elaborate discussions start on different subjects in the same thread. Also, it will lead to the loss of overview.br /> * Instructions for adding images to posts in the Frequently Asked Questions should be followed.
* If an image is not taken by yourself but linked to, for example, in an online photo album or another website, you must give a link to the relevant page invisible text (preferable between [ url ] tags), too.
