Following my escape from the BNSF Argentine Yard in KCK, I took a bus to the Kansas City Southern/Canadian Pacific Knoche Yard in KCMO. The plan was to catch the daily CP 475 to Pig's Eye Yard in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Unfortunately one of my gallon jugs of water broke as I got on the train while CP was building it in the darkest hours of the night. With only one gallon of water left and temperatures rising over the course of the day, it was looking less and less likely that I would make it all the way to Saint Paul without getting off to resupply. The train sat at the crew change location in Ottumwa for over three hours. In retrospect, I should have gotten off the train here to resupply at the Walmart across the street from the yard.

The train left Ottumwa as the sun was setting and I went to sleep shortly thereafter. I was awakened at around three in the morning by the sound of the train being worked at the CP yard in Fruitland, IA and there were several minutes of panic as I wondered if I'd been set out. After listening to the scanner I realized I hadn't been set out and a short while later the train continued to Davenport where I did end up getting set out. As a matter of fact, well over half of the train was set out there. This turned out to be a good thing, as it forced me to resupply and re-hydrate.

That night a massive thunderstorm rolled in and I took shelter in a boxcar.
